Three Step Sparring (Sambo Matsoki)

To begin, face each other in parallel ready stance, a walking stance apart. The attacker then takes their right leg back into L walking stance and performs L low block.

Kihaps should be made by both attacker and defender to show readiness before beginning. A kihap should also be made by the defending student on their counter technique of each set.

For stances in which both legs have equal weight distribution, assume the leg mentioned is nearest the opponent. E.G. With R fixed stance the right leg is the closest to your partner.

Attack

For each defence listed below the attacker moves forward into walking stance and performs an obverse punch (repeated three times).

Step forward from starting position, R walking stance R punch,

Counter: Step out to side with L leg, then R leg follows to form L L-stance, R knifehand side strike to neck.

Counter: Front backfist strike to the bridge of the nose.

Counter: Step out diagonally with L leg into sitting stance and measure a punch to the belt with L arm, perform a double punch.

Counter: Step diagonally to the side with R leg into sitting stance,

L L-stance, R outer block
Niunja so bakkat palmok bakaero makgi.
Counter: Slide backwards and right to avoid the third punch finishing in R L-stance, guarding block,
Perform R front kick to the torso, landing in R walking stance,
Measure with the left hand for a punch to the torso, perform double punch.

Orun gunnan so doo jirugi.
8.R L-stance, L knifehand outer block,
L L-stance, R knifehand outer block,

Counter: Slide backwards and right to avoid the third punch finishing in R L-stance, knifehand guarding block, Perform R side kick to the torso, landing in L L-stance, Perform R front backfist strike to the bridge of the nose OR R knifehand side strike to the neck.

Execute a R turning kick with ball of foot to the torso landing into L L-stance next to opponent,
Draw right foot into L vertical stance, R side knifehand strike to the neck.

10.R L-stance, L knifehand outer block
L L-stance, R knifehand outer block

Counter: Slide backwards and right to avoid the third punch finishing in R L-stance/knifehand guarding block.
Perform R reverse side kick to the torso, landing in R walking stance.
Execute a L reverse knifehand strike to the philtrum.
Orun niunja so sonkal daebi makgi.
Orun dwit chagi, orun niujna sogi.
Wen nopunde sonkal dung taerigi
